Hosting-Stammtisch
Practical know-how for everyone who runs websites – born out of a regular get-together in Mainz.
Since 2006, people who work with websites have been meeting in Mainz: hosting providers, web designers, people from SEO, affiliate and online marketing. Up to 2015 there were 23 large meetings; after that it continued in a smaller group. They talked about projects and ideas, shared experience and often found partners, clients and service providers along the way. In German, such a regular informal meeting is called a Stammtisch – traditionally a group that meets at a reserved table in a pub.
Many of the questions from back then still come up today – only the answers have changed. That is why there is no registration and no advertising here, just answers to look up and tick off.

The hosting checklist
Before you choose or change a hosting provider, go through the questions that kept coming up at the Stammtisch – contract and cancellation, domains, backups, PHP versions, data protection, support. You can tick the items off in your browser and print the list. Your entries stay on your device.
What was the Hosting-Stammtisch?
A meeting as a counterpart to forums and online communities which – according to the old home page – lacked “things like personality or a relaxed atmosphere” (our translation): there, you only knew the other person from the internet. How it came about, which topics were on the table and when the 23 meetings took place is described on the page about the Stammtisch.
